My name is Hélder Dores, and I am a cardiologist and university professor. Evidence-based medicine, research, innovation, and teamwork are the central pillars of my professional activity. My primary areas of clinical practice are clinical cardiology, sports cardiology, cardiovascular prevention, and cardiac rehabilitation.
Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in developed countries, largely tied to modifiable risk factors that can be improved through better lifestyle choices. Prevention is, therefore, essential. Even after a cardiovascular event, adopting a healthy lifestyle is crucial to living longer and better.
Whether it's enhancing health literacy among the general population, improving risk stratification and early diagnosis of cardiovascular conditions, treating patients, or training professionals, there is still much work to be done. This is what drives me: contributing to better prevention and reducing the global burden of cardiovascular diseases.
